The Big 2!

What an amazing day!

Ari turned 2 years old and got to see his sister for the first time since all this began. Hard to tell who was more excited - Ari or Rowan. Mom was just doing her best to hold back happy tears at seeing two children who dearly loved each other reunited.

A huge thanks to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Who knew their Child Life Program threw birthday parties for kids stuck in the hospital on their big day? Thank you Esther and Rachel for making this a very special day for all of us. Ari got a poster signed by special folks here, balloons, a cake and lots of awesome toys.

I've also got to say thank you for so many of you who remembered Ari's birthday today and sent good wishes or a gift his way. Thank you for remembering and loving him.

As if The Big 2 wasn't enough today, Ari moved up. For the last two days we've been told that Ari would stay in IMU for a few days. Well, that ended at 11am this morning. I missed doctor rounds this morning so I didn't hear the discussion, but from the report I got, it sounded like Ari was looking like he was on a good path and other, sicker kids needed his bed, so off we went to the infant/toddler unit (ITU), room 10 (most recently known as Blake's room to my Buddy Talk family). It's bigger but has less intense nursing care. I'm adjusting and eager for Ari to prove that not only is he well enough to be here, but he's well enough to not be here for long:)

I'm at the hospital tonight and their wi-fi won't let me post videos on the blog. I'll post them when I leave sometime tomorrow so you can see him playing with his new ball and saying "a ball" for the first time since he got sick. The smiles are coming more often and we get occasional laughs.

My sweet Ari is shining through.

  1. Sweet buddy! I thought about him all day yesterday, but no one told me he was having a birthday party at the hospital! I've had his present since before all this, so maybe we can bring it by at some point.

  3. I thought & talked about Ari a lot on his big day. Shopped for something in Paris but nothing seemed quite right. Got home last night & hope to see you soon! ❤️
