Those sweet "da-da-das"

Well, Ari's temp went down this morning with some Tylenol and then spiked to about the same level again tonight. Eventually the Tylenol knocked it this evening as well. Maybe the fever means something. Maybe it's just the infection's course. If the fever is being caused by the pneumonia, the antibiotic he is already taking should cover it. If it's being caused by something else, well, that will be a new battle altogether. We should have preliminary cultures back tomorrow morning.

Beyond the fever, though, the last 24 hrs has brought some good progress. Off nitric oxide. Off epinephrine. Blood pressure medicine cut in half. Diuretic changed and reduced. More vitamins going in. Formula going in. He's started mottling the slightest bit again, and we've got some other teensy indicators of lower oxygenation but until that is fully apparent, I'll remain hopeful and keep one eye ever open.

To celebrate the progress, whatever it means, check out our X-Man in action. This video was taken by Autumn, one of his teachers at Easter Seals. She just happened to send it to me the day after I had been furiously searching for a video of him just so I could hear his sweet voice again. Ari wakes up every day singing, much like in the video, with his "da-da-das". I'm not always happy to hear it in the 5 a.m. hour, but it is a sound I adore.

Love to all,
Dorothy
