You gotta love Arkansas. I went to take a selfie and found a mosquito feasting on my forehead.
It has been quite the week. Sunday was my birthday as well as Father's day.
Here's what 41 looked like for me:
Here is what Father's day looked like:
Sean was in California. This is the photo I took and sent him for Father's Day. Love it. Congratulations Sean on scoring two progeny that look only like you and don't look like your wife at all.
Overall, it was a pretty spectacular day. For one, it was very chill and no one had a meltdown, including me - those are wonderful days outside of anything else. However, on this birth/father's day, it would have taken a lot to spoil my day. I got to have TWO kids celebrate my bday with me and TWO kids wished Sean a Happy Father's Day from afar. Very few things were going to take away that gratefulness and joy. Also a huge thank you to family and friends for good wishes and small celebrations that meant the world to me for my birthday.
Ari is doing well. We're about 10 days into his new thyroid medicine and nutritional supplements. I can't say I've noticed any miracles, but he's doing very well, his teachers and therapists are very happy with him, we're happy with progress we're seeing. He's certainly not doing any worse! He's chunking up a bit too, which is probably good considering he lost some weight in the hospital. Good for him. Not good for this 41-year-old back.
We tried giving Ari some more solid food this week to gradually expand his diet away from all pureed foods (with the exception of white fish which he can already eat because it is so soft.) Well, it was a failure. He started choking on some peach bits and some creamed corn. He did do well with some pear bits the day before, but it's not worth the risk. We'll keep pureeing and try again in a few weeks.
We're expecting another good weekend coming up. Rowan's 5th birthday party is tomorrow. I'm excited....it will be quite a sight....and every day that we are all healthy and happy is a great day.
I heard this song on my birth/Father's day. Summed up my feelings quite well. I hope you all enjoy, it and especially Sean - Happy (late) Father's Day.
Love to all,
Dorothy
